Porzingis Returns with 18 Points in First Game Back

Boston Takes Series Lead in Blowout Victory

Though things got close for a brief moment in the second half, the Boston Celtics took a 1-0 series lead over the Dallas Mavericks in Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Thursday.

Kristaps Porzingis, back from a calf injury, led the Celtics in scoring with 18 points, including 18 in the first half. Jayson Tatum added 17 points, and Marcus Smart dropped 15.

For the Mavericks, Luka Dončić led the way with 26 points, followed by Christian Wood's 25 points. Despite their efforts, the Mavericks were unable to keep up with the Celtics' hot-shooting and strong defense.

The Celtics raced out to a 29-point lead in the first half, and they maintained their advantage throughout the game. The Mavericks closed the gap to 12 points in the third quarter, but the Celtics quickly regained control and extended their lead to 21 points in the fourth quarter.

The Celtics' win marked their fourth consecutive victory in the NBA Finals, and they will look to take a commanding 2-0 lead in Game 2 on Sunday.
