Canucks Fall Short After Late Push, Oilers Take 3-2 Series Lead

Vancouver Canucks Return to Rogers Arena Looking to Regain Series Lead

Game 5 of Round 2 Sees Oilers Edge Canucks in Overtime

Vancouver, BC - The Vancouver Canucks fell short in their bid to regain the series lead against the Edmonton Oilers, losing 4-3 in overtime in Game 5 of their second-round playoff series at Rogers Arena on Thursday night.

The Canucks, who won Game 4 in Edmonton to tie the series at 2-2, came out strong in front of their home crowd but ultimately couldn't hold on to the lead. Vancouver took an early 1-0 lead in the first period, but the Oilers responded with two goals in the second period to take the lead. The Canucks tied the game in the third period, but the Oilers scored the game-winning goal in overtime to take a 3-2 series lead.

The Oilers' Connor McDavid led the way with a goal and an assist, while Leon Draisaitl and Zach Hyman each scored a goal. Elias Pettersson and Quinn Hughes scored for the Canucks, while Bo Horvat added an assist.

The Canucks now face an uphill battle as they head back to Edmonton for Game 6 on Saturday night. They will need to win both Game 6 and Game 7 to advance to the Western Conference Finals.
